Connecting dancers to the community with

performance opportunities and industry-level training.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

For students who wish to pursue a higher level of training in dance, leadership, and creative exploration, this is the program to join. To maintain a high level of excellence, many dancers take classes 3-6 days a week. When your dancer graduates they will have the capabilities to study at a collegiate or entry level professional school. Every dancer has their own path to explore and it doesn’t need to end at graduation.

Dancers who enter this program will receive an invitation to join our performing company, Peninsula Dance Theatre (PDT). Through this additional program dancers are able to further their training and increase their performance experiences.

 FAQs

  • At the Pre-Professional level, dancers should enroll in at least 3 ballet classes. To be a well rounded and diverse dancer we recommend that dancers have experience in as many dance styles as possible. We offer Ballet, Modern, and Jazz.

  • Yes! Our Nutcracker auditions are open to all students ages 7+ . Pre-professional dancers are not required to be a part of Peninsula Dance Theatre to participate in The Nutcracker.

  • Dancers are generally ready for pre pointe at level 4, and and ready to go on pointe at level 4/5 (ages 11+) Your dancer’s teacher will evaluate your dancers technical abilities as well as their physical readiness for pointe.

  • We want to make sure our dancers are staying safe and hydrated during their classes, so we ask that they bring a water bottle into the studio and place it in a cubby to reduce the traffic going in and out of the studio during class time. They will be given 1 water break half way through class, and can take additional sips of water if need (especially in the warmer months).

  • PDT or Peninsula Dance Theatre is entering their 52nd season as a non-profit pre professional company that BDC students can be invited to join. Peninsula Dance Theatre is committed to developing young artists and enhancing our community by producing and providing frequent access to high-quality live dance performances. Students who join PDT will have numerous opportunities to perform for the public, work with renowned artists and choreographers, and attend an annual dance festival called The Ballet Alliance.
